Your Kids NEED THIS gilded age Santa tradition in Centro Histórico
What to do in Mexico City this 2025 Christmas at The Palacio Postal: CDMX’s most magical vintage Santa experience
Get ready for the holiday magic at the Palacio Postal in Mexico City — this season it transforms into the “Palacio de los Deseos.” From December 16, 2025 through January 5, 2026, families can bring their kids to drop letters addressed to Santa Claus and the Reyes Magos. The mailbox is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and sending a letter costs $30 pesos.
In past editions, kids could join a letter-writing workshop: they’d get a kit (paper, envelope and a postage stamp), decorate their messages and then drop them in the special Christmas-mailbox. Sometimes — if they were lucky — Santa or the Reyes Magos even sent back a reply to the children’s home.
But it’s not just about delivering wishes — the Postal Palace will be all decked out in holiday spirit. There will be live Christmas carol performances, a philately exhibit called “Christmas Around the World,” and a collective art show titled “The 2nd Letter Never Sent.”
If you’re visiting CDMX with kids this winter, this is one memory-making outing you really shouldn’t miss.
